My Personal Yoga Journey…
My yoga journey began in 2005 after moving to Peacock Point, Ontario. I found myself surrounded by peacefulness, water and quietness. It was a gift that had presented itself to me.
After three years of practising yoga every Monday evening with my yoga teacher Doris Kienitz of Selkirk, Ontario, I found that I was being drawn into more meditative reading, practices and way of life. Example: less is more, wanting to spend time with loved ones and family, and taking the time to be grateful for what I have been blessed with.
Three years at the lake helped me to discover who Darlene really is, the inner strength that lies beneath the seemingly hard exterior.
In 2008 I moved back to the east end of Hamilton. I was able to explore other yoga studios and teachers as well as beginning the Integrative Yoga Therapy Teacher Training (IYT).
I’m discovering that my yoga journey is a life long journey, which I’m very excited to be on. Each new day brings new gifts of nature, life, friends and personal growth experience.
As of today, there are five things that I can say I truly love about yoga:
- My restful sleep at night
- Downward Dog Pose and Prasarita Padottanasana Pose
- My morning meditation which allows me to offer special intentions for myself, family, community and the universe
- Being able to journal about something that I’m grateful for each evening before I close my eyes
- The many new yoga teachers and students that have come into my life
Namaste
